Clinic has really gone downhill after expansion. Avoid dr burt who is unethical with her practice, she did not perform... the evaluation or time she documented. The office manager tim who offered a solution but took no action, and then won't return phone calls. Not even a courtesy to tell me he can't help me as he originally said he would.I was ALSO treated unfairly when given 5 minutes to pay a 1000.00 bill that wasn't even 18 hours old. They refused service until i paid in full when i presented for my appointment. This was a second issue, and on top, the bill was their mistake (3rd issue) as we found out later in the day. It was just processed with the insurance the day before. The dr dropped out of network and no one knew or informed me. I wasn't even disputing the bill, just that they canceled my appointments, refused services, until i paid in full at my appointment time with no notice at all. I never had a late payment with them before. I was being treated unfairly after reporting dr burt. After 13 years of service i will no longer be returning by their doing. If i had the option to do it over, i would report dr burt again. Integrity is important and lack of it is why the world is suffering right now. I hope someone can get this review to dr. Jackson or dr. Bain as i would like them to know what's going on so they at least know.Don't report unethical services or you'll be billed big and kicked out as a result after 13 year relationship. Don't report you feel you're being treated unfairly either when they add salt to your wound. Most providers are just fine and I'm really sad about this.read more

I have a major phobia about doctor offices and appointments which makes it really hard for me to access care. I... cancelled and rescheduled appointments at different places a few times until I just couldn’t tolerate it anymore. I finally went and saw Cyndi Nguyen. I had the best experience ever with someone helping me with my ears. She was so kind. I’ve had panic attacks before in the office and she intuitively knew to reassure me and because of her patience and kindness I was able to finally get the help I needed. I can’t emphasize enough what solid gold she is!!! If we had more people like her the world would be a better place for those who struggle with anxiety about going to the doctor. She even gave me antibiotics to make sure my ears healed and no one has ever done that for me before after this procedure. This is the best experience I’ve ever had getting my ears cleaned. In the past it was a very horrible process. This was super easy and painless. I was shocked. The equipment they have is very high tech. They have tv’s to show you the ear canal. I can’t believe I was going to a urgent care where they came at me with a water pik and flooded my ears making everything worse. I can finally hear again after a few years of issues. My kids can’t believe it. am so grateful to her! I wish she was a primary care!! I’d finally go to the doctor !read more

There are great people working here, and Dr. Jackson and his providers are superb professionals, the BEST. The problem... is COMMUNICATION. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment. The operator transfers you to "Appointments," and of course you get a voice mail saying they're "busy helping other patients," then they NEVER, NEVER call back. Last time I needed to come in, I called three times over four days, NO reply. Finally, on the fourth day, she called back. It's just infuriating.TWICE, I've made the 1-hour drive to the clinic to make an appointment IN PERSON, because that was the only way I could do it!We had a good friend that wanted to see them as a new patient, on our recommendation; she called three times for an appointment, and was never called back. Finally, she gave up and went to a different clinic. With other clinics, you get a live person on the phone and they just make the appointment right then and you're done, no problem. Why can't EIT do this? They are FAMOUS for this issue. Now, my wife is having a sudden problem with her ear that's being treated there. It's getting full of fluid - flooded, running out of her ear. I'm TRYING to get her in to see someone. Left a message, and same thing: crickets. I guess I'll have to drive down there again.... sigh.Like I said, they have some great people on their staff, but there's something very, very wrong here.Note: after a couple more phone calls, I finally managed to get it done. Like many places, they do have staffing issues.read more

I suffer from vertigo and had a horrible vertigo recently. I had gone to a vestibular PT in the past (not from The Ear... Institute of Texas) who helped me tremendously. I called the clinic where I saw my vestibular PT to make an appointment, but was told I needed a referral since it had been a while since I had been there. I called 3 times on different days to EIT to get a referral. No one called back. I called one of the supervisors to get assistance and left a voicemail. Again, no one called back. I went in to EIT this morning to pick up my allergy serum. While I was there, I decided to ask about my referral. I was told by the female at the front desk that I had to see a vestibular PT from their office (was anyone ever going to call me back and let me know that???). The front desk female checked and said they had an appointment at 1000 (it was a little after 9 when I was talking to her). I said I would wait. 1000 comes and goes. 1030 and then 1045 comes and goes. It was almost 1100 before I finally decided to leave (I had another appointment at 1145 I had to get to). The front desk did not apologize. From the non return phone calls and the excessive waiting, I will not be returning to this place.read more

I think the MD was well-trained and competent. Her assistant was “the people person,” and helped me feel safe and... welcome.I was concerned/confused that I was seen before my history was completed or read so MD did not know underlying issues before exam. This may be current training as this same thing happened to me in another practice. It is wonderful to access a specialist but would like to be seen as a whole person.I am sure her report will be useful in addressing other issues for which I was referred.read more

A bit disappointed. Waited quite a while to see doctor Jackson. When I scheduled my appointment I was asked if I... wanted to see NP or Dr. I told them wanted to see Dr for my first visit. Never got to see Dr yesterday. Then when checking out they wanted to schedule me for additional testing. When I asked if covered on my insurance was told I needed to call my insurance and ask. This is not normal protocol. What if I call insurance they tell me it’s covered then they bill and say not covered ? I can not afford this extra testing right now. Not sure what to do now. On side note NP was nice.read more

I was a patient of Dr. Jackson but never was able to see him, only his PA Cyndi. After calling for several days saying... my hearing was getting worse every day and begging to be seen, his staff kept pushing me off. Even when I could no longer hear on the phone and my husband had to call for me. When I finally did see his PA again, and she saw the DRAMATIC hearing loss, she did nothing. Told me to see a sinus doctor and gave me 6mg. Of steroids. That same day I saw another doctor who immediately diagnosed me with sudden hearing loss after seeing my charts. She then started treatment right then and there. Steroids shots in my ear drum and 30mg. of steroids a day. She was able to salvage part of my hearing. I believe his office staff needs more training, as well as his PA. I have told everyone I know to never go here.read more

My first visit to the Ear Inst of Tx was a significant improvement from the usual service I received at my old ENT. ... The hearing test was more thorough and I had a long visit with the audiologist after testing with the technician. He confirmed a concern I had with my current hearing aids which my old audiologist refused to believe. The clinical part of my visit was performed by a nurse practitioner who was prompt, skilled and let me watch what she was doing. I also met briefly with the MD whose team provided my care. Even the billing and rescheduling was done by a friendly and efficient person. Great visit! I waited two weeks for my appointment but it was worth it.read more

I am uncertain whether my expectations are reasonable. There was a time when doctors' administrators handled the... medical records issues. Within the last 5 years an attitude has developed that patients are suppose to make the STAFF'S jobs easier for them. And I communicate that I am 70 years and recently diagnosed with Dementia for a reason. I deal with confusion and memory issues. And it is EXTREMELY difficult for me to figure out these blasted electronic devices!Young administrators need to be reminded that my generation did not grow up with computers and it is insulting to have to deal with expressed aggravation when we need help. I filled out as much of the required forms as I could. To RECEIVE a phone call complaining that I put "see list" for medications and medical history as if it was an inconvenience almost caused me to leave a complaint but I felt I should give the staff member a break. We are all going through difficult times. I did not want to start out on the wrong foot. I was a new patient so did not know the routine. Yet I was weak and struggling with the symptoms that flare due to heat intolerance. I just needed to put down my purse and binder of medical records but was barked at that I had to stand there until she made copies of my ridiculously long medical history list and all the medications being prescribed to treat symptoms rather than IDENTIFY THE SOURCE of abnormalities crippling and frightening me. There was NO WAY I could have typed it all in and trying to take and send pictures is just as difficult because there seems to be a disconnect between my brain sending messages to my hand then hitting the right keys... when my vision is clear enough to see!So during the whole visit, not single staff member smiled. When I checked out that person never even looked up. When I tried to empathize with her she complained of it being too busy. Seems to me that would be considered a blessing!I was made to feel that I was a source of aggravation and it was NOT APPRECIATED! Patient's visits are what pays their salary and that kind of behavior, by most of the staff gives doctors negative reputations.read more

Update: I am adding a star back after having good discussions with the office manager and an audiologist. I did have to... wait 17 minutes of too loud music after a very quick "putting you on hold", and then another 5 minutes to be transferred to the correct phone. Having the hold music set to high means I turn the volume down, which means when someone finally answers, I can't hear them without readjusting the volume. But I did get some of my questions answered and they will be calling me back tomorrow morning to set up an appointment. If not, the star comes back off. There is still no option to just speak with someone - I used option #2 for setting up an appointment. One more thing: the audiologist called me using my number on file after I gave the office manager another number for the audiologist to use (which sadly seems to happen at about every office I go to, so I can't hold it against them).-----------Update: I just tried calling so I could speak with the office manager, but there was no option to just speak with someone on the automated system. I would be glad to speak with the office manager, but it looks like they will need to contact me. My number should be in your records. I just dropped a star for this lack of being able to speak to someone. Thanks.------------I have been a patient here for 5 yrs. I stopped going for two reasons: (1) the audiology/hearing aids part never allowed me to wear hearing aids bought from somewhere else (exactly same as what they sell only much, much less expensive) during a test. (2) the two offices (audiologists and doctors) are in the same space but can't seem to get appointment info straight. I recently tried to get an appointment but it went to the audiologists who assumed I had hearing aids from them and assumed the appointment would be free. I explained and they said no it would not be free and no I could not be tested there with my hearing aids on, so I did not want an appointment with them. So they booked me with an appointment with a doctor. Weeks later I get a confirmation call from the doctor saying it is a follow-up from an audiologists test (which of course never happened), so I canceled that appointment. Unfortunately I may need to go very far to find a good ear doctor that might be interested in getting me a cochlear implant, which is why I wanted a consultation with the doctor in the first place (and I also explained that as well when I called the first time). The doctors seem very good, which is why I did not give a zero review, but recommendations audiologists completely conflict with the doctors' recommendations.read more
